The Wall Painting Workshop organized under the Visual Art Movement (VAM) was a vibrant and collaborative event aimed at exploring the artistic potential of public spaces through creative expression. Conducted over several days, this workshop brought together students, faculty members, and local artists to transform dull and neglected walls into meaningful, eye-catching murals. The primary objective of the workshop was to promote community engagement, foster teamwork, and encourage young artists to express social, cultural, and environmental themes through large-scale wall art. The Art Talk segment features thought-provoking discussions, panel sessions, and keynote speeches by prominent figures in the art world. These talks delve into the evolving nature of contemporary art, the role of art in society, and the challenges and opportunities faced by artists today. Attendees will gain valuable insights into artistic techniques, conceptual development, and thesocio-political impact of visual art.
Participants were introduced to the technical and conceptual aspects of mural making, including surface preparation, sketching, color theory, composition planning, and paint application techniques. The workshop also included interactive discussions on how public art can influence society and contribute to urban beautification.
Themes ranged from Indian folk traditions and tribal motifs to contemporary issues like environmental sustainability, education, and unity in diversity. By the end of the workshop, the once-ordinary walls had been transformed into storytelling canvases that reflected creativity, identity, and collective effort.
This hands-on experience not only enhanced the artistic skills of the participants but also instilled in them a deeper understanding of art as a tool for social change.
The VAM Wall Painting Workshop was a successful initiative that left a lasting visual and cultural impact on the space and its viewers.
