3 DAYS FACE TO FACE FDP ON UHV-I

The Three-Day Faculty Development Programme on Universal Human Values (UHV) is an initiative aimed at promoting value-based education and humanistic understanding among educators. The FDP focuses on nurturing a holistic perspective toward education by integrating self-reflection, emotional intelligence, and ethical responsibility into the teaching-learning process. It emphasizes the development of harmony at four interconnected levels — within the self, in the family, in society, and with nature — thus helping educators realize the intrinsic relationship between human values and sustainable living.

In alignment with the AICTE guidelines and the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the FDP seeks to re-establish the purpose of education as a means for both professional excellence and personal growth. The sessions include discussions, reflections, and interactive activities that help participants explore their role in creating a balanced and compassionate educational ecosystem.

Through this FDP, faculty members gain insights into the foundational principles of Universal Human Values and learn practical methods to integrate them into classroom delivery, institutional culture, and personal conduct. The program also aims to build a community of educators committed to fostering a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and ethical leadership across disciplines. Ultimately, the FDP serves as a platform to strengthen the foundation of Holistic and Values-Based Education (HVBE) in higher education institutions, enabling teachers to become true facilitators of human development and social harmony.

AIM of the Event:

The primary aim of this Faculty Development Programme on Universal Human Values (UHV) is to empower educators to cultivate a human-centric and value-driven approach to education. The programme intends to sensitize faculty members to the deeper purpose of education — not merely as a means of livelihood but as a process of self-evolution and societal transformation.

The FDP seeks to help participants:

  • Understand the principles of self-exploration and harmony at multiple levels:  individual, family, society, and nature.

  • Reflect upon their role as educators in shaping the character and conscience of future generations.

  • Integrate value education into technical, professional, and general courses, promoting responsible and ethical behavior among students.

  • Develop the ability to create a classroom atmosphere that encourages empathy, respect, and critical thinking rooted in values.

  • Build institutional mechanisms that support Holistic and Values-Based Education (HVBE) through mentoring, curriculum design, and faculty collaboration.

Beyond academics, the FDP aims to contribute to a broader social transformation by preparing teachers who can guide students toward sustainable lifestyles and meaningful human relationships. It also aspires to align institutional practices with the AICTE-UHV framework, thereby enhancing the moral and ethical dimension of education.

In essence, this FDP envisions educators as change agents : individuals who not only impart knowledge but also inspire values, leading to a society that is peaceful, just, and environmentally responsible.
