World Physiotherapy Day Celebration – Theme: Healthy Ageing
World Physiotherapy Day was celebrated on 8th September in our institute with great enthusiasm to highlight the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health, mobility, and independence. The theme for this year was “Healthy Ageing”, focusing on how physiotherapy supports older adults in maintaining strength, balance, and an active lifestyle.
The program began with a warm welcome, followed by an inspiring guest lecture by Dr Jasleen Kalra consultant physiotherapist for Uttarakhand police and self-Practitioner at Physio healing home care and Rehabilitation clinic. who emphasized the importance of physical activity, exercise therapy, and lifestyle modifications in preventing age-related health issues. The lecture provided valuable insights into how physiotherapy plays a crucial role in ensuring a better quality of life for the elderly.
Students actively participated in a skit performance that creatively portrayed the challenges faced by aging individuals and how physiotherapy interventions can restore mobility, reduce pain, and improve confidence. This was followed by a dance performance by paramedical students, showcasing the message that movement is essential for healthy living at every stage of life.
The event created awareness not only among students but also among faculty and guests about the significance of physiotherapy in achieving healthy ageing. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of all participants and encouraging everyone to spread the message of active aging in society.
The program was a great success, reminding us that through physiotherapy, we can ensure “Adding years to life and life to years.”
