The School of Agriculture, Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Ag-Venture Club, is organizing a Guest Lecture and Workshop on “Exploring Horticultural Nursery as a Profitable Enterprise in Northern India” on 10th November 2025. The event aims to create awareness among students, budding entrepreneurs, and progressive farmers about the economic potential and entrepreneurial opportunities in the field of horticultural nurseries.
This interactive program will feature expert speakers from the horticultural industry, research institutions, and agribusiness sectors who will share their experiences and insights on nursery establishment, management practices, and marketing strategies. Participants will gain practical knowledge about plant propagation techniques, quality seedling production, and the use of modern tools and technologies for enhancing productivity and profitability. Special emphasis will be placed on the scope of nursery enterprises in the climatic conditions of Northern India, government schemes supporting agripreneurs, and the importance of innovation and sustainability in horticulture-based ventures.
The workshop will also include live demonstrations and hands-on sessions to help participants understand the technical aspects of nursery management, including potting mixtures, irrigation, pest control, and record-keeping. Through this initiative, the School of Agriculture aims to motivate students to consider horticultural nursery development as a viable and sustainable entrepreneurial pathway.
By connecting theory with practical exposure, the event seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world agribusiness opportunities. Ultimately, this program aligns with the university’s mission to foster innovation, skill development, and self-reliance among students, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to India’s growing agricultural and horticultural economy.
