The Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is a visionary effort to recognize, preserve, promote, and integrate India's rich and diverse knowledge traditions into the contemporary education system. Rooted in thousands of years of intellectual inquiry and practical wisdom, Indian Knowledge Systems encompass a wide spectrum of disciplines, including philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, agriculture, architecture, metallurgy, linguistics, governance, arts, environmental sciences, and sustainable living practices. These knowledge traditions reflect a holistic worldview that emphasizes the harmonious relationship between human beings, society, nature, and the universe. In alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the IKS initiative seeks to encourage multidisciplinary learning, foster innovation inspired by indigenous knowledge, and promote research that draws upon India's civilizational heritage to address contemporary societal and global challenges.
The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Indian Knowledge Systems for Innovation, Sustainability, and Future-Ready Technologies" is conceived with the objective of equipping faculty members and researchers with a deeper understanding of the scientific, technological, and philosophical foundations of Indian Knowledge Systems and their relevance in the modern world. By facilitating interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange, the FDP aims to inspire educators to integrate IKS principles into teaching, curriculum development, research, and innovation while fostering an academic ecosystem that is culturally rooted, globally relevant, and committed to sustainable development.
Through this initiative, participants will be encouraged to develop new perspectives on education and research, identify opportunities for innovation based on indigenous knowledge, and contribute meaningfully to the creation of a future-ready, self-reliant, and knowledge-driven society envisioned under NEP 2020.

- Explore scientific and technological contributions of ancient India
- Understand the relevance of Ayurveda, Yoga, and traditional health systems in modern healthcare.
- Examine indigenous agricultural practices for sustainable development and climate resilience.
- Explore the interface between Indian knowledge traditions and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
- Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and research opportunities based on traditional knowledge systems.
