Title: Proposal for Field Visit to Community Health Centre (CHC) to Observe Community Health Innovation Practices.
Community Health Nursing is a vital component of the B.Sc. Nursing and GNM curriculum, focusing on the promotion of health, prevention of disease, and delivery of essential healthcare services at the community level. Community Health Centres (CHCs) play a crucial role in India’s public healthcare system by serving as referral units for Primary Health Centres and providing comprehensive preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative services to the population, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
A field visit to a Community Health Centre offers nursing students an invaluable opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the functioning of the public health system. Through direct observation and interaction with healthcare professionals, students can understand how theoretical concepts taught in classrooms are applied in real-world settings. Such visits help students familiarize themselves with community-based healthcare delivery, national health programs, maternal and child health services, immunization practices, disease surveillance, and health education activities.
This field visit also enables students to observe innovative community health practices and public health interventions implemented at the grassroots level. It provides insight into the role of nurses in planning, organizing, and delivering healthcare services, as well as their responsibilities in community assessment, health promotion, and patient education. Moreover, exposure to multidisciplinary teamwork at CHCs helps students develop professional skills, communication abilities, and a sense of social responsibility.
Overall, the field visit to the Community Health Centre is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, enhance experiential learning, and prepare nursing students to deliver effective, compassionate, and community-oriented healthcare services in their future professional roles.
