Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in hotel management universities, offering students a unique platform to blend cultural traditions with professional learning. The event begins with the installation of an eco-friendly Ganesha idol, often crafted or selected by students, emphasizing environmental responsibility. The idol is placed in a well-decorated space adorned with flowers, rangoli, lights, and thematic décor created by the housekeeping and front office departments.

Culinary students play a vital role by preparing traditional festive dishes, especially sweets like modaks and laddoos, which are offered to Lord Ganesha and shared with attendees. Live cooking counters, food exhibitions, and plating competitions may also be organized as part of the celebration, allowing students to display their skills.

The event includes cultural performances such as dance, music, drama, and daily aartis, promoting student participation and teamwork. Hospitality students manage guest reception and event coordination, giving them valuable experience in real-time event handling.

The celebration usually concludes with a symbolic immersion (Visarjan) of the idol on campus, using eco-friendly methods. Overall, Ganesh Chaturthi in a hotel management university is more than just a religious festival — it is a learning experience that combines devotion, creativity, sustainability, and practical application of hospitality principles.
