Uttarakhand, the land of divine beauty and rich cultural heritage, was formed on 9 November 2000 as the 27th state of India. On 9 November 2025, the state proudly completes 25 glorious years of its establishment. To commemorate this historic milestone, the state government has declared 2025 as the Rajat Jayanti (Silver Jubilee) Year. In celebration of this occasion, the SURTAAL CLUB of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU) is organizing a grand Uttarakhand Folk Dance Competition to promote the vibrant cultural traditions, beliefs, and moral values of the state among the youth.
This inter-college event aims to provide a golden opportunity for students from DBUU and other colleges to showcase their talent, creativity, and love for Uttarakhand’s folk heritage. Each participating group must have a minimum of six members, with an entry fee of ₹100 per participant. Participants can perform any traditional folk dance form of Uttarakhand, such as Chholiya, Jhora, Chhapeli, Langvir Nritya, or Pandav Nritya. Students are encouraged to wear traditional attire or college uniforms, and they may use props to enhance the visual appeal of their performance.
The performances will be judged by professional experts, and one group will be declared the winner, receiving an exciting prize, cash reward, and certificates of excellence. This event is not only a celebration of dance but also a platform for cultural exchange, creativity, and unity among students. Through this initiative, SURTAAL CLUB and DBUU aim to honor the spirit of Uttarakhand and inspire the younger generation to preserve and promote the state’s priceless cultural legacy.
