Hostel Room Redesign Competition -Transforming Spaces, Inspiring Living

The Dev Bhoomi School of Architecture is organizing a Hostel Room Redesign Competition as an innovative academic initiative integrated with a practical, hands-on training exercise for Architecture and Design students. This event aims to create a dynamic learning environment where students can translate their theoretical knowledge into real-life applications by reimagining and transforming existing hostel rooms into functional, aesthetically pleasing, and user-friendly living spaces.

The competition focuses on various aspects of interior design, including space planning, material selection, furniture layout, lighting design, and the development of cost-effective execution strategies. Students will be required to analyze existing conditions, identify user needs, and propose design solutions that enhance comfort, efficiency, and visual appeal. Emphasis will also be placed on incorporating sustainable practices, innovative ideas, and creative problem-solving approaches while working within practical constraints such as limited budgets, timeframes, and available resources.

This initiative serves as an important platform for experiential learning, allowing students to engage directly with real-world design challenges. It encourages teamwork, collaboration, and effective communication among participants, while also strengthening their decision-making and analytical skills. Through this process, students gain a deeper understanding of execution techniques, material behavior, and on-site challenges.

Overall, the competition bridges the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, preparing students for future industry demands. It not only enhances their technical and creative competencies but also instills confidence and a sense of responsibility towards designing practical and sustainable interior environments.
