Industrial Visit to ONGC Dehradun

Department of Civil Engineering is organizing a one-day industrial visit to ONGC on 7 September 2026 for approximately 50–60 B.Tech/Diploma Civil Engineering students, accompanied by two faculty members. The visit is designed to provide students with meaningful practical exposure to the functioning of a major organization in the oil and gas sector and to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world engineering practices.

During the visit, students will gain an opportunity to understand various aspects of oil and gas exploration, drilling operations, industrial processes, engineering practices, and infrastructure development. The visit will also provide exposure to the I/C Museum and Green Building, enabling students to understand the technological development, industrial heritage, and sustainable approaches adopted within the organization.

The event aims to enhance students’ understanding of engineering applications beyond the classroom and familiarize them with the working environment, safety practices, operational procedures, and multidisciplinary coordination involved in large-scale industrial facilities. Such exposure will help students relate their academic concepts to practical situations and develop a better understanding of professional responsibilities and workplace requirements.

The industrial visit will also strengthen industry–academia interaction and encourage students to explore career opportunities in the energy and infrastructure sectors. It will promote experiential learning, technical awareness, teamwork, and professional development among the participating students.

Overall, the visit is intended to contribute to Quality Education (SDG 4) while also creating awareness of industry, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), responsible resource utilization, and sustainable engineering practices. The event will serve as an important academic enrichment activity for Civil Engineering students by providing direct exposure to industrial operations and modern engineering practices.
