International Day of Yoga

International Day of Yoga 2026 Theme "Yoga For healthy Aging" presents a timely opportunity for our university community to reconnect with well being, resilience, and unity. As we gather on 21 June, yoga’s holistic practices—breath control, physical postures, and mindful awareness—can help students, faculty, and staff manage academic pressures, improve concentration, and foster better physical health. This year’s celebration emphasises accessibility: sessions will include beginner-friendly asanas, chair yoga for those with mobility limits, and guided pranayama to calm the nervous system. Beyond the mat, we will highlight yoga’s scientific benefits through a short talk by the wellness center on stress reduction, improved sleep, and enhanced cognitive performance. Group practices encourage social bonding and a campus culture that values mental health and mutual support. The event honours yoga’s cultural roots while promoting inclusivity, inviting practitioners from different traditions to share diverse perspectives and adaptations. Practical takeaways include a simple daily routine students can use during exam weeks, handouts on quick breathing techniques, and pointers to campus resources for continuing practice. By observing International Day of Yoga, our university not only celebrates a global movement but also invests in building a healthier, more focused, and compassionate academic community prepared to face challenges with balanced body and mind.
