IST INTRA MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2026

The IST Intra Moot Court Competition organized by the School of Law, Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU), is a prestigious academic event designed to enhance the advocacy skills, legal research abilities, and courtroom etiquette of law students. This competition serves as a simulated court proceeding where participants argue hypothetical legal cases, thereby gaining practical exposure to the functioning of the judicial system.

The primary objective of the competition is to bridge the gap between theoretical legal education and practical application. Students are required to prepare memorials, analyze complex legal issues, and present oral arguments before a panel of judges, often comprising faculty members and legal professionals. This process not only strengthens their understanding of substantive and procedural laws but also improves critical thinking, drafting, and public speaking skills.

The competition typically follows a structured format, including the submission of written memorials and multiple rounds of oral arguments such as preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals. Participants represent both petitioner and respondent sides, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of the case from different perspectives. The judging criteria include knowledge of law, application of legal principles, clarity of arguments, court manners, and response to questions.

The IST Intra Moot Court Competition also fosters teamwork, professionalism, and time management among students. It provides a platform for budding legal professionals to build confidence and prepare for national and international moot court competitions. Additionally, it encourages healthy academic competition and intellectual growth within the institution.

Overall, the event plays a vital role in shaping competent and confident law graduates, equipping them with essential litigation skills and a deeper appreciation of the legal profession.
