Nasha Mukt Bharat: Nukkad Natak Evam Sapath Abhiyan

The Nukkad Natak evam Sapath Abhiyan is a powerful community-oriented initiative designed to raise awareness about the growing threat of substance abuse and to inspire collective responsibility toward building a drug-free society. This campaign brings together students, NSS/NCC volunteers, youth groups, and local community members, all of whom participate with great enthusiasm and a sense of social duty. Through engaging and thought-provoking street plays, the participants dramatize real-life situations that highlight the harmful effects of drugs on individuals, families, and society at large. These nukkad nataks are performed in open public spaces such as marketplaces, campuses, village squares, and residential areas to ensure maximum outreach and involvement.

The performances use simple language, relatable characters, and emotionally impactful storytelling to convey the message effectively. By depicting the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug addiction, the plays encourage audience members to reflect on the dangers of substance abuse and to adopt healthier lifestyle choices. Community participation is a key aspect of the initiative, as it not only spreads awareness but also builds a sense of unity and shared responsibility.

Following the street play, the Sapath (pledge) ceremony forms an important concluding element. During this activity, students, performers, and members of the public come together to take a collective oath to stay away from drugs, support anti-drug campaigns, and motivate others to do the same. This mass pledge reinforces the message of the performance and strengthens the community’s resolve to fight against substance abuse. Overall, the initiative serves as an impactful platform for social awareness, youth engagement, and community empowerment.
