About the Event

National Nutrition Week 2026 is an awareness and educational initiative designed to emphasize the vital role of nutrition in maintaining good health, preventing diseases, and promoting overall well-being. Observed annually to strengthen public understanding of healthy dietary practices, the programme provides an opportunity to educate students, faculty members, and the community about the importance of balanced nutrition and informed food choices. The event focuses on creating awareness regarding essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, and water, along with their functions and significance in human health. It also highlights the importance of dietary diversity, portion control, food safety, hygiene, and adequate hydration as essential components of a healthy lifestyle.

National Nutrition Week 2026 will provide a platform for participants to understand the consequences of malnutrition, including undernutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, obesity, and other nutrition-related disorders. Special emphasis will be placed on the nutritional requirements of children, adolescents, women, and young adults, encouraging participants to adopt appropriate dietary habits at different stages of life. Interactive activities such as expert lectures, awareness campaigns, poster-making competitions, nutrition quizzes, demonstrations, healthy recipe presentations, and group discussions can be organized to make the programme informative and engaging. These activities will encourage students to explore scientific aspects of nutrition and develop the ability to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food choices.

The programme will also promote awareness of sustainable nutrition and responsible food consumption. Participants will be encouraged to recognize the nutritional and environmental benefits of locally available, seasonal, and minimally processed foods while understanding the importance of reducing food wastage. The event can further encourage the integration of nutrition education with sustainable development, public health, and community well-being.

National Nutrition Week 2026 is primarily aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), particularly the objective of addressing all forms of malnutrition. It also contributes significantly to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting preventive health practices and healthy lifestyles. Furthermore, nutrition education supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), while responsible food choices and reduction of food waste contribute to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Overall, National Nutrition Week 2026 aims to transform nutrition awareness into practical action by empowering participants with scientific knowledge and encouraging sustainable, healthy, and responsible dietary practices. The programme seeks to contribute to healthier individuals, informed communities, and a more sustainable societ
