The Nursing Innovation Pitch: Low-Cost Healthcare Solutions is an initiative organised under the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) to cultivate an innovation-driven mindset among nursing students. The event aims to provide a platform where students identify pressing healthcare challenges encountered in hospitals, communities, and primary healthcare settings and propose practical, affordable, and sustainable solutions.
Students will participate in teams of two and present their innovative ideas through a structured pitch before an expert panel. The proposed innovations may include low-cost medical devices, patient care aids, health education tools, infection prevention solutions, digital health applications, rehabilitation aids, or community-based healthcare interventions designed to improve patient outcomes while minimising costs.
The event will assess participants on parameters such as originality, feasibility, affordability, social impact, scalability, and relevance to healthcare needs. The top three innovative ideas will be recognised and awarded, encouraging students to further refine and develop their concepts for incubation, research, patents, or entrepreneurship opportunities.
This activity aligns with the vision of the Institution's Innovation Council by promoting innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurial skills among future healthcare professionals.
