School of Engineering & Computing, Department of Civil Engineering, DBUU is organizing a One-day educational visit to “Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun”. Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun is an autonomous research institute of the Department of the Science & Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Initially named as the Institute of Himalayan Geology, it was renamed as the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology in memory of its founder, the late Prof. D. N. Wadia (F.R.S. and National Professor), in appreciation to his contributions to the geology of the Himalayas. During the last quarter century, the Institute has grown into a centre of excellence in Himalayan Geology and is recognized as a National Laboratory of international repute with well-equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities for undertaking advanced level of research in the country. It is a concept that helps the students in gaining additional knowledge. It is very beneficial for students in order to enhance their knowledge. It is an interesting way of learning and interacting with new people at the same time. Such events and lectures help in enhancing the technical/communication skills and many other skills of the students. Students will visit WIHG by college bus and will reach back campus around 4PM.
AIM of the Event:
- To make an interactive session with students.
- To visit WIHG research labs and museum.
- To develop student’s proficiency towards geotechnical aspects.
- To enhance technical skills of students towards rocks, minerals etc.
- To understand the challenges and opportunities in civil engineering field.
