Organic Farming & Vermicomposting under Ag-Venture Club

The School of Agriculture, Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, is organizing a Workshop on “Organic Farming and Vermicomposting” on 17th November 2025, under the banner of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Ag-Venture Club. This workshop aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices and raise awareness about the environmental and economic benefits of organic farming.

The session will focus on the principles, methods, and importance of organic farming in maintaining soil health, improving crop productivity, and ensuring food safety. Special emphasis will be given to vermicomposting techniques, demonstrating how organic waste can be efficiently converted into nutrient-rich compost using earthworms. Participants will learn about compost preparation, maintenance, and application for enhancing soil fertility and promoting eco-friendly crop production.

The workshop will also highlight the role of organic farming in reducing chemical dependency, conserving biodiversity, and supporting climate-resilient agriculture. Through hands-on training and expert guidance, students will gain practical knowledge and skills to adopt and promote sustainable farming methods. Overall, the event aims to encourage young agriculturists and entrepreneurs to explore organic farming and vermicomposting as profitable, environmentally responsible ventures contributing to a greener and healthier future. The workshop also seeks to highlight the environmental advantages of reducing chemical inputs, improving soil biodiversity, and maintaining ecological balance. Additionally, it will focus on the entrepreneurial opportunities in organic farming and compost production, encouraging youth to view sustainable agriculture as both a profession and a passion.
