Photography Competition: Life at DBUU
About the Event
Photography Competition is organized for the students of the University on World Photography Day (19 August). The competition is proposed with the objective of providing students with a platform to showcase their creativity, photographic skills, visual storytelling abilities, and understanding of contemporary themes.
- Importance of celebrating photography day
- World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19th to commemorate the invention of the daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Louis Daguerre in 1837. This process was officially announced by the French government as a gift to the world on August 19th, 1839. Since then, photography has evolved tremendously, becoming a powerful medium of expression, communication, and documentation. Therefore, August 19th was chosen as World Photography Day to honor this significant milestone in the history of photography.
- Promotes art: Inspires creators to experiment with lighting, framing, and emotional expression.
- Builds global unity: Connects strangers through a shared visual language that transcends spoken dialects.
- Raises awareness: Spotlights critical social, environmental, and humanitarian causes through impactful photojournalism

- Theme: LIFE AT DBUU.
- Mode: Submission of photographs as per the prescribed guidelines
- Evaluation: Photographs will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on creativity, composition, originality, technical quality, and relevance to the theme.
Aim of the Event
To inculcate creativity among students.To enhance the photographic skills.To develop visual story telling among students.To develop skills of clicking according to the theme.To know the importance of photography in everyday life.
