Poshan Utsav 2026: Celebrating Healthy Food, Local Ingredients & Well-being
About the Event
Poshan Utsav 2026: Celebrating Healthy Food, Local Ingredients & Well-being is a two-days awareness and student engagement initiative organized by the School of Agriculture, Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, through the AG-VENTURE Club. The programme will be conducted on 5th and 7th September 2026 as part of Nutrition Week to promote awareness about balanced diets, healthy food choices, nutritional security and the importance of locally available food resources.
The campaign will focus on creating an understanding among students about the relationship between agriculture, food and human nutrition. It will encourage participants to appreciate the nutritional value of diverse food groups, including cereals, millets, pulses, fruits, vegetables and other locally available food products. Special emphasis will be given to healthy, affordable and sustainable food choices.
The first day will feature a Healthy Plate Competition based on the theme “Build Your Balanced Plate.” Students will design and present balanced meal plates demonstrating appropriate combinations of different food groups and highlighting nutritional diversity. The activity will encourage students to understand the basic principles of a balanced diet in an engaging and creative manner.
The second day will feature a Nutritious Recipe Competition on the theme “Healthy Food, Local Ingredients.” Participants will prepare innovative and nutritious recipes using locally available, seasonal and traditional ingredients. The activity will promote healthy eating, food value addition and appreciation of local agricultural produce.
Through these activities, Poshan Utsav 2026 aims to transform nutrition awareness into practical learning and encourage students to make informed and healthier food choices. The programme will also highlight the important contribution of agriculture towards achieving nutritional security and building a healthier society
