Combating Antimicrobial Resistance- Challenges, Innovation and Global Strategies

The Poster Making and PowerPoint Presentation Competition on “Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Challenges, Innovation, and Global Strategies” was organized to enhance awareness and understanding among students regarding the serious and growing threat of antimicrobial resistance. The event provided an engaging platform for participants to communicate scientific concepts through creative posters and informative PowerPoint presentations, focusing on the causes, consequences, prevention, and control of AMR. Students explored major challenges associated with the inappropriate and excessive use of antibiotics, emergence of multidrug-resistant microorganisms, inadequate infection prevention and control, and limited availability of effective antimicrobial treatments. The competition also encouraged participants to highlight innovative approaches for combating AMR, including antimicrobial stewardship, development of novel antimicrobial agents, alternative therapeutic strategies, rapid diagnostic technologies, vaccination, biotechnology, and digital health solutions. Presentations emphasized the importance of responsible antimicrobial use and the need for evidence-based interventions at individual, institutional, national, and global levels. The event further introduced students to the One Health approach, highlighting the interconnected roles of human health, animal health, and the environment in the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance. Through participation, students strengthened their research, scientific communication, creativity, critical thinking, and presentation skills. The activity also encouraged students to recognize their role in addressing AMR through responsible practices, awareness generation, and innovative scientific thinking. Overall, the competition served as an effective educational initiative to promote awareness, interdisciplinary learning, and a sense of responsibility toward developing sustainable global strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance.
