This program aims to educate participants on road safety through interactive sessions, expert talks, live demonstrations, and awareness campaigns designed to create lasting behavioral change. The initiative seeks to increase awareness about common traffic risks, encourage responsible road use, and promote adherence to traffic laws among drivers, riders, and pedestrians alike. By combining knowledge-sharing with practical engagement, the program ensures that participants not only understand road safety principles but also learn how to apply them in real-life situations.
Key activities include a keynote address by a senior traffic police officer, who will discuss common road hazards, recent accident trends, and essential preventive measures. This session will provide valuable insights into the importance of vigilance, compliance with traffic rules, and the consequences of negligent driving. A practical demonstration on proper helmet usage, safe driving techniques, and pedestrian safety will follow, allowing participants to observe and practice correct safety measures.
To further reinforce learning, a poster exhibition and quiz competition will be organized, encouraging creative expression and active participation. Prizes will be awarded to motivate involvement and recognize outstanding contributions. A pledge-taking ceremony will promote a zero-tolerance approach toward traffic violations, fostering personal accountability. The distribution of safety kits, including reflectors and informative pamphlets, will provide practical tools for everyday safety. Overall, the event will foster a culture of responsible road behavior, aligning with National Road Safety Week initiatives.
AIM of the Event:
- To raise awareness about road accidents, their causes (e.g., over speeding, drunk driving, mobile use), and statistics (over 1.5 lakh annual deaths in India per MoRTH data).
- To promote adherence to traffic rules and safe practices among youth.
- To reduce road mishaps on campus and nearby areas through behavioral change.
- To build partnerships with local authorities for sustained safety campaigns.
