Empowering Student Nurses & nursing officers as Skilled Birth Attendants.

The School of Nursing, DBUU, proposes to organize an intensive Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) Module & Digital Learning -Safe Delivery App. Workshop - a mandatory and competency-based training under the B.Sc. Nursing curriculum and a core requirement for GNM students.

This comprehensive theory-cum-hands-on training program is designed to enhance clinical excellence, critical decision-making, and leadership in maternal and newborn care. It aims to cultivate highly skilled, confident, and compassionate nursing professionals capable of managing normal and emergency obstetric situations with precision and empathy.

The workshop will bring together students from DBUU and other reputed nursing institutions, promoting academic collaboration, peer learning, and standardization of SBA practices. This initiative aligns with the National Safe Motherhood and Newborn Health goals, reinforcing DBUU’s commitment to advancing nursing education and strengthening India’s healthcare delivery system through evidence-based midwifery competencies.

This theory-cum hands-on training workshop aims to enhance the clinical skills, knowledge, and leadership of nurses and midwives in evidence-based maternal and newborn care. Led by SBA-trained experts, the program focuses on building a competent and confident workforce committed to ensuring safe, respectful, and high-quality intrapartum services.

AIM of the Event:

Interactive Sessions & Hands-on-Training sessions:

By the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Adhere to universal precautions and maintain aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrate correct use of PPE and hand hygiene practices.
  • Prepare and apply 0.5% chlorine solution for infection control.
  • Perform antenatal assessment and abdominal palpation effectively.
  • Conduct PV examination and interpret the partograph accurately.
  • Provide comprehensive intrapartum care and perform normal delivery with AMTSL.
  • Deliver essential newborn care and execute neonatal resuscitation promptly.
  • Recognize and manage PPH and Eclampsia efficiently.
  • Perform IUCD insertion following standard guidelines.
  • Utilize the Safe Delivery App to reinforce evidence-based practice.
