The Department of Pharmacy is organizing an innovative event titled “Smart Labels, Safer Patients:Ideas to Innovation with Expert Mentorship aimed at promoting creativity and patient-centered thinking among budding pharmacy professionals. The event focuses on the theme of Patient-Friendly Medication Labeling, highlighting the importance of designing medicine labels that are simple, accessible, and safe for all patients, including the elderly, visually impaired, and those with limited health literacy. Through a vibrant poster exhibition, participants will present their innovative ideas such as QR-code enabled labels, Braille embossing, pictogram-based instructions, color-coded dosage systems, and smart packaging models that can transform the way patients understand and use their medicines. The showcase will not only serve as a platform for students and researchers to display their creativity but also create awareness on how labeling innovations can reduce medication errors, improve adherence, and enhance overall patient safety.
A key highlight of the event is the mentoring support from Innovation Ambassadors and domain experts, who will interact with participants, provide valuable feedback, and guide them on refining their ideas into impactful, real-world solutions. Selected posters and ideas will also get the opportunity to be linked with further mentorship, incubation facilities, and potential pathways for implementation. The event encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, blending pharmaceutical sciences with digital technology, design thinking, and patient communication strategies. By rewarding the best innovative ideas, the initiative aims to inspire a culture of research, innovation, and patient-centered care in pharmacy practice. Ultimately, this poster showcase is not only an academic exercise but also a step towards building safer healthcare systems where smart labels empower patients and save lives.
