Workshop On Basic Life Support (BLS)

The BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Workshop is a comprehensive training program designed to equip nursing students with essential life-saving skills required in emergency situations. This workshop focuses on both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training to ensure that students are well-prepared to respond effectively to critical clinical scenarios such as cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, stroke, and other life-threatening conditions. The workshop begins with an introduction to the principles of emergency care, including the concept of the “Chain of Survival,” which emphasizes early recognition, early CPR, rapid defibrillation, effective advanced care, and post-resuscitation support. Students are trained to assess patients quickly, identify signs of cardiac arrest, and initiate immediate intervention.

A major component of the workshop is skill-based learning, where students practice high-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on manikins. They learn proper chest compression techniques, ventilation methods, and the importance of maintaining adequate compression depth and rate. The use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is also demonstrated and practiced, enabling students to deliver timely defibrillation when required. In the ACLS component, students are introduced to advanced concepts such as airway management, intravenous access, administration of emergency medications, and interpretation of cardiac rhythms. Simulation-based training is used to replicate real-life emergency scenarios, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a controlled environment. This helps in enhancing clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork. The workshop also emphasizes the importance of coordinated team effort during resuscitation. Students are trained to work effectively in groups, assign roles, and communicate clearly under pressure. This collaborative approach is crucial in improving patient outcomes during emergencies.Furthermore, the training aligns with standard guidelines and protocols, ensuring that students are updated with current practices in emergency care.

By the end of the workshop, participants gain confidence in handling emergency situations and are better prepared to provide immediate and effective care in clinical settings.Overall, the BLS / ACLS workshop serves as a vital educational initiative that strengthens the clinical competence of nursing students and prepares them to act promptly and efficiently in saving lives.

AIM of the Event:

  • To equip students with knowledge and skills required for performing Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • To enable students to recognize early signs of cardiac arrest and initiate timely intervention.
  • To develop competency in performing high-quality CPR and use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • To enhance decision-making and teamwork during emergency resuscitation situations.
  • To improve confidence and preparedness of students in handling life-threatening emergencies in clinical settings.
