Plantation Drive on World Environment Day 2026
The School of Allied Sciences and School of Agriculture, under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), is organizing a Plantation Drive on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June 2026. The event is being conducted with the objective of promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and collective responsibility towards nature. The theme for World Environment Day 2026, “Inspired by Nature: For Climate, For Our Future,” highlights the urgent need to protect and restore the environment through nature-based solutions.
The plantation drive aims to encourage students, faculty members, and staff to actively participate in creating a greener and healthier campus environment. Trees play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by improving air quality, conserving biodiversity, reducing soil erosion, and combating climate change. Through this initiative, participants will not only contribute towards environmental conservation but also develop a sense of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
The event will include the plantation of various native and medicinal plants within the campus premises. Faculty members and students from both schools will work together to spread awareness about the importance of afforestation and sustainable living practices. Informative sessions and discussions on environmental protection, climate action, and the role of youth in building a sustainable future will also be conducted during the programme.
This initiative reflects the institution’s commitment towards environmental sustainability and innovation-driven community engagement. By planting trees today, the institution takes a meaningful step towards securing a healthier and greener future for coming generations. The plantation drive serves as a reminder that small collective actions can create a lasting positive impact on the planet
