About the Event
The Department of Physiotherapy proposes to organize World Physiotherapy Day on 8 September 2026, on the theme “Cardiovascular Stroke.” to recognize the vital contribution of physiotherapists to healthcare and to create awareness about the importance of physical activity, rehabilitation, injury prevention, and healthy living.
The celebration aims to promote the role of physiotherapy in improving functional independence and quality of life. It will also provide students with an opportunity to enhance their professional knowledge, communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and community engagement.
The programme will commence with an inauguration ceremony, followed by a welcome address and an introduction to the significance of World Physiotherapy Day. An expert lecture by an eminent physiotherapist/healthcare professional will be organized on the current scope and future prospects of physiotherapy. A physiotherapy awareness camp will be conducted for students, faculty, staff, and community members, including basic health screening, posture assessment, ergonomic advice, exercise counselling, and awareness regarding prevention of musculoskeletal problems.
To encourage active student participation, various competitions such as poster making, slogan writing, physiotherapy quiz, essay writing, and model/exhibition presentations will be conducted. A demonstration session on therapeutic exercises, posture correction, fitness, and injury prevention will also be included. Cultural and recreational activities may be organized to promote interaction and team spirit.

To celebrate World Physiotherapy Day by creating awareness about the vital role of physiotherapy in promoting health, preventing disability, improving physical function, facilitating rehabilitation, and enhancing the quality of life of individuals and communities.

- To increase awareness among students, faculty, staff, and the community about the importance and scope of physiotherapy.
- To highlight the role of physiotherapists in prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and health promotion.
- To promote awareness regarding physical activity, exercise, posture, ergonomics, and healthy lifestyles.
- To educate participants about the prevention and management of musculoskeletal and lifestyle-related health problems.
- To provide students with opportunities to demonstrate their academic, clinical, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- To encourage community participation and health awareness through physiotherapy screening and educational activities.
- To foster teamwork, professional identity, and collaboration among physiotherapy students and faculty.
- To motivate individuals to adopt active and healthy lifestyles and seek appropriate physiotherapy services when required.
- To recognize and appreciate the contribution of physiotherapists to healthcare and rehabilitation services.
