DONATION DRIVE 2026

About the Event

The Donation Drive is a social outreach initiative organized with the objective of extending support to deprived, underprivileged, and economically vulnerable sections of society, particularly families residing in slum and marginalized communities. The initiative is conducted annually on 2 October, commemorating the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose lives and teachings emphasized simplicity, service, compassion, and social responsibility.

The primary objective of the Donation Drive is to collect and distribute essential items such as used clothes, food and eatables, stationery, and other useful articles among people in need. Through this initiative, the University community seeks to address immediate material needs while promoting dignity, care, and a sense of inclusion among beneficiaries.

The drive goes beyond the distribution of donated materials by creating awareness among students and participants about the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged communities. It encourages individuals to recognize their social responsibilities and motivates them to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of society. The initiative provides students with an opportunity to engage directly in community service and develop values of empathy, equality, humanity, compassion, and social responsibility.

The Donation Drive also strengthens the connection between the University and the surrounding community by encouraging collective participation from students, faculty members, staff, and other stakeholders. It demonstrates how small individual contributions, when combined through collective action, can provide meaningful support to those in need.

Overall, the Annual Donation Drive represents the University's commitment to community engagement, social inclusion, and responsible citizenship. The initiative contributes particularly to SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), while also supporting the broader goal of building a compassionate, inclusive, and socially responsible society.
