Educational Visit to Tides IIT Roorkee
About the Event
Educational Visit to TIDES, IIT Roorkee
The Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, School of Allied Sciences, Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, has organized an educational visit for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of Biotechnology and Microbiology to TIDES (Technology Innovation and Development of Entrepreneurship Support), IIT Roorkee. The visit is scheduled for the second week of September 2025 and aims to expose students to real-world innovation, startup culture, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
The primary objective of this visit is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in science, technology, and business. Students often lack exposure to how scientific knowledge is translated into real-world solutions. Traditional education focuses heavily on theory with limited interaction with live startups, incubators, or research-based entrepreneurship. This visit aims to address these gaps by providing students with hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to interact with startup founders, researchers, and innovators.
The visit will help students explore emerging technologies, understand startup incubation processes, and cultivate entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and career awareness. It is expected to motivate students to pursue careers in STEM fields, research, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the students will gain insights into how startups are funded, mentored, and supported in a real-world environment.
The estimated number of participants is around 80 students. The visit will be conducted with one or two buses, depending on the final number of participants. The event will be coordinated by Dr. Nivedita Rawat and is supported by the Head of the Department and the Dean of the School of Allied Sciences.
Through this educational visit, students will enhance their practical knowledge, build networks for mentorship and internships, and gain valuable exposure to innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities, preparing them for future roles in technology, research, and business leadership.
