WORLD CEREBRAL PALSY DAY- "UNIQUE AND UNITED ~ CELEBRATING INDIVIDUALITY ,CREATING CHANGE TOGETHER"
About the Event
The aim of observing World Cerebral Palsy Day with the theme “Unique and United – Celebrating Individuality, Creating Change Together” is to promote awareness, acceptance, inclusion, and equal opportunities for people with cerebral palsy. The initiative seeks to recognize that every individual with cerebral palsy is unique, with different abilities, strengths, aspirations, challenges, and ways of communicating and participating in society.
The programme aims to create a positive and supportive environment where individuals with cerebral palsy are respected for their individuality and encouraged to participate actively in family, education, healthcare, employment, and community life. It focuses on changing attitudes, reducing stigma, and challenging misconceptions surrounding cerebral palsy by promoting understanding and empathy.
Another important aim is to highlight the importance of early identification, appropriate rehabilitation, assistive technology, accessible education, healthcare services, and social support in improving quality of life and promoting independence. The initiative also aims to encourage families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, educators, and communities to work together to identify and address barriers faced by people with cerebral palsy.
Through awareness activities, discussions, educational programmes, and community participation, the celebration aims to empower individuals with cerebral palsy to express their voices, make choices, develop their potential, and participate meaningfully in society. It emphasizes that inclusion is not simply about providing support but also about creating equal opportunities and ensuring that every person can contribute.
Ultimately, the aim is to bring people together as a united community, celebrate diversity, promote dignity and respect, and encourage meaningful changes that lead to a more accessible and inclusive society. By celebrating individuality and working together, the programme seeks to build a future where people with cerebral palsy are recognized not by their limitations, but by their abilities, contributions, aspirations, and unique identities.
